The above set of six images charters the course
followed by the four principal files of this website. The
first two carry us from an intuitively 'Cartesian Theatre' of
Naive Realism to its necessary replacement by a Representational
epistemology. This important matter occupies
'Epistemology' -the first of our four files.
The third image adds Agency to the phenomenally
given World View -which it knows rather than is.
As the image clearly shows, the relationship is essentially
concentric. It is the subject to which the Psyche document
is devoted.
This brings us to the fourth image, which carries the concentric
expansion in the reverse direction -into the Mind/Brain
relationship and mutual dependence., The reciprocal dependence
of mind and brain is treated at length within the Mind/Brain
file. The fifth image is added for good measure, capturing
the entire sequence so far given, passing in order::
Psyche > Internal-World-View > Cortical-Sensory/Praxial-Interface
> Soma > External-Environment
Notice particularly the Penfield 'Maniken' which preserves the
body image appropriately distorted to 'impedance match' its
topology to functionality.
We are brought finally to the sixth image that completes the
overriding concentricity of the sequence of levels. It
couples the realm of Existence of each of us, to that of a
Transcendence beyond. Both subjective and objective phases
of monadic existence are alike in their total lack of
ontological self-sufficiency; neither can existence in the
absence of irradiances from the Platonic Realm of Logos.
As the image makes clear, two emanational influxes are involved.
That passing vertically upwards is supportive of materiality, at
all of its Inorganic/Organic, or Mental/physical levels.
It is necessarily forever ongoing; were it interrupted for
a single instant, everything would vanish irretrievably into the
void of Non-existence. The second in contrast -shown
entering top>down in the figure- comes and goes with conscious
awareness. It underwrites the Sleep/Wake cycle. In
entering, it brings with it the second modality of Consciousness
and a quickening of the mental scene that it encounters.
Of the links itemized below summarize the major divisions
of The New Monadology
-
"Approach" places my 'Neutral
Monism' within a listing of alternative ontologies
-
"Epistemology" replaces the
'Naive Realism' of commonsense and Mainstream neuroscience
alike with a 'Representational' or Microcosmic alternative.
It is of absolutely central importance
-
"Psyche" takes a closer
look at the Mind side of the Mind/Brain ensemble
-
"Ontology" explores the
implications of the ontology of 'Neutral Monism'
-
"Mind/Brain" looks at the
vexed question of which is doing what.
-
"Metamathematics" presents
an overview of the Formal Scaffolding within which my
philosophy as put together.
-
The "God Question" makes it
clear that the major problem is with the question its self.
